Fairs -- Northampton & Westfield
Continuing through the weekend -- Westfield's Arts on the Common festival ... and the annual TRI-COUNTY FAIR at the Northampton Fairgrounds in Northampton.
Westfield's Common is the center of Town -- at the Od Post Office & Library Square - US Rte 20.
Northampton's fairgrounds are off Main Street - west of the US I-91 & Rte 9 interchange - - a mle from town center.
TRI-COUNTY ? ... that's Hampshire (Northampton is the county seat); Franklin & Hampden.
Northampton --is the inspiration for Riverdale of the 'Archie' comic strip .. so if coming from downtown Northampton -- going east toward the river takes one past the large homes of people like the Lodges (father of Archie's girlfriend). Horseraces during the fair. ..Northampton is also the home of Calvin Coolidge - The business of America is business. -- and also the most cosmopolitan and artsy city in western Massachusetts.
